I thought I’d spend the afternoon getting one of the short videos I shot on the trip uploaded: this clip is of Geordie, the awesome guy we travelled with on the Ice Run 2013, pulling down the final stretch of the ice road into Salekhard at the end of our journey. The wonderful noise you can hear is our motorbike, minus the exhaust muffler it abruptly decided it no longer required about 1km prior.
This is my first crack at doing image stabilisation on the footage I shot with my Nikon DSLR. The footage I have is unbelievably shaky, because I shot it handheld from a motorbike sidecar doing 60km/hr down a bumpy road with no suspension (we hit a few potholes early on, whoops).
I used VirtualDub and http://www.guthspot.se/video/deshaker.htm, and I like the result. Check out the artifacts in the sky to get some idea of how bumpy the original clip was.
The plan is to stitch these together into a team video, but that’ll probably take a little while at this rate 🙂 Stay tuned as always…

Muffler fell off? Happened on the Mongol Rally too. Sounding like a trend!
